The European research interactIVe (accident avoidance by active intervention for Intelligent Vehicles) develops advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) for safer and more efficient road traffic. These are functions that warn the driver in potentially dangerous situations, brake autonomously or steer in order to avoid an imminent accident. interactIVe focuses also on functions, which are able to actively intervene in order to decrease the severity of an unavoidable accident. The developed functions are integrated in seven demonstrator vehicles - six passenger cars of different vehicle classes and one truck. During the project the functions are developed, integrated as well as tested and evaluated. This paper describes the developed function as well as the applied evaluation methodology.
