Steady and unsteady Reynolds-Averaged Navier Stokes Simulations are conducted to study mixed and displacement ventilation configurations in an A-320 aircraft cabin. The complete cabin model is equipped with thirteen seat rows and thirty-eight passenger models emitting a constant heat flux representing the respective thermal loads inside the aircraft cabin. Temperature and velocity distributions are analyzed to study the local climate in the vicinity of the passenger models which is important for their thermal comfort. Heat radiation is also modelled in the steady state simulations of the complete cabin model (for both mixed and displacement ventilation) as well as in unsteady computations of mixed ventilation in one segment of the cabin. The results are then compared to results for which radiation modelling was switched off.
