In the project "Conduct-by-Wire", which is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), cooperative maneuver-based driving is examined. This paper describes the first version of the Conduct-by-Wire human-machine interface, based on a tactile touch display and its further development towards a concept based on a gesture recognition device supported by a static head-up-display. The theoretical comparison of both interfaces shows that disadvantages in driver's gaze behavior can be assumed when driving with the tactile touch display. In contrast, with the gesture recognition a higher number of input failures can be assumed.
