In this paper, a motor-generator control strategy is proposed for the engine optimal operation of the dual-mode hybrid system with EVT which consists of the input and compound split mode. The control strategy contains interchanging the role of MGs, thus the MG which is closer to the engine on the lever controls the engine. The optimal operation performance of the engine is investigated using the proposed control strategy for the UDDS driving cycle. The vehicle simulation results show that the optimal engine operation can be realized by controlling the MGs using the proposed control strategy.
