Wireless sensor networks(WSN) are more and more part of the everyday life. Recently it has been proposed to use WSNs inside the aircraft cabin. The use of wireless sensors inside the cabin has many advantages, e.g. reduction of system installation time and reduction of overall system weight. However, it also introduces new challenges due to the characteristics of the radio channel. One of the most important challenges is the design of a robust radio channel access, which provides reliable communication. Previous investigations have shown that a hybrid channel access method consisting of both a Time Division Multiple Access(TDMA) and Carrier Sense Multiple Access(CSMA) phase, is a suitable solution. This paper focuses on the channel access in the TDMA phase. As a result a robust channel access procedure is derived, granting exclusive time slots for each sensor. The assignment of these slots and the resulting requirements are discussed in detail and a solution is presented.
