Overhead presentation. In order to support a widespread adoption of hybrid (HEV) and electric vehicles (EV), the underlying technologies must enable competitive vehicle cost, performance and driving range. In this context, innovative and high-quality Automotive Power Semiconductors are a key enabler to increase system efficiency and support cost targets. In the first part of this presentation the current state and trends of MOSFET, IGBT and SiC technologies will be presented. By focusing on specific requirements of selected (H)EV applications, different semiconductor solutions will be introduced. Finally, the latest trends in power modules with their specific mechanical and electrical characteristics, as well as their overall system impact will be presented. In order to enable improved (H)EV architectures and concepts now and in the future, a close alignment between system level development and Semiconductor Technologies will be required. The semiconductor industry is ready to support the global trend in Powertrain electrification.
