Braking force distribution plays an important role in the safety and stability of road vehicles. To achieve a stable braking, the rear wheel slip should be smaller than the front wheel slip. Modern vehicles use an Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) system, which can distribute the braking force intelligently. This paper presents an innovative approach to formulate a new braking force distribution strategy for both the straight line braking and the brake in-turn, in which the mathematical optimisation procedure has been included. The optimised strategy, similar to other modern braking force distribution strategies, works on the basis of wheel slip control.
