It is described the current application, in the field of the traffic regularity monitoring, forecasting and management, of a model to simulate the operation of complex railway systems based on working criteria and operational rules of interlocking and line signaling systems. The modeling is based on an object oriented approach accomplished by the Petri nets formalism. The developed tools can be used both for forecasting regularity levels and in a decision support system to manage railway traffic conflicts resolution.
