The full paper describes current results and potential applications, particularly in the field of the traffic regularity monitoring and forecasting, of an ongoing research concerning the development of a model to simulate the operation of complex railway systems based on working cntena and operational rules of safety systems, as interlocking system and line signalling systems, through independent by applied technologies. Modelling is based on object oriented approach by the Petri nets formalism that allows high processing openness and modular building without breaking away from the safety systems logic.
