A new efficiency-optimised strategy of LIM (Linear Induction Motor) for Linear Metro is proposed in this paper. First, a dynamic mathematical model of LIM is derived based on analysing the end effect. Then a field orientation control scheme with the actual parameters is developed. Based on the mathematical model of LIM, optimal flux control based on model is raised so as to deal with the problem of LIM low efficiency. Through calculating the copper and iron losses in a variable speed and torque LIM drive, the LIM total losses are reduced. The effectiveness of the proposed control strategy has been verified through simulation results.
