This paper describes the methodology used to demonstrate the compliance of the new AnsaldoBreda Obstacle Deflector for High Speed Train following the EN 15227 (European Norm) regulations. Starting from the EN 15227 was defined the impactor and the methodology used to develop the main structure. The main idea of the obstacle configuration was defined using AnsaldoBredas and Tescos experience. The work shows all the passages to be done to deliver the final design. In topology optimisation, static, fatigue and modal analysis, with the main target to satisfy the different crash scenarios. In order to improve the simulation quality results some tests were done on material samples and on a base structure used to develop the main crash mechanics in the obstacle deflector. The test on base structure was used to compare the experimental results with the numerical simulation.
