Nowadays, adaptive mounts - and in some cases even active mounts - are used for functionally optimized engine mounts. The purpose of these solutions is, on the one hand, to improve the vibration characteristics in situations where comfort is critical (for instance when idling), and on the other hand, to improve the vehicle acoustics over a broad range of vibration frequencies as well. This paper first presents mechatronic systems actually used in production vehicles. These systems are primarily constructions that adapt the flow conditions in hydraulic mount components and thus have an impact on their dynamic characteristics. New alternative mechatronic systems will also be discussed. These include mount components with stiffness and damping characteristics that can be adapted via friction elements, as well as active systems, which can be used to selectively adapt vehicle acoustics for the purpose of sound engineering. Mechatronic system solutions are gaining in importance for chassis mounts as well. Such systems will also help to reduce the conflict between goals such as ride comfort and safety, while enabling new functions. Another topic that is dealt with is rear axle steering with separately controllable wheels. Each of the wheels guided by arms is adjusted with integrated, controlled actuators in the control arm. When integrated in a vehicle control system, both driving dynamics and ride comfort can be improved significantly.
