John Deere has introduced a new line of 8000 '30 series' (8030) tractors that meet the new European Union (EU) Stage IIIA and North American Environmental Protection Agency (NAEPA) tier 3 engine emission regulations using a new 9.0 L engine. These tractors bring a new level of productivity and fuel efficiency to customers while maintaining the manoeuvrability, visibility, and ease of operation for which the 8000 series are known. Integrated tractor systems and their technologies have lead to overall tractor factory observed fuel efficiency improvements of 2 % to 5 % based upon model and option. This paper describes the overall tractor functional capabilities and the design details in: engine, engine auxiliaries, cooling module, fan, variable sheave fan drive, shroud and diverter, engine enclosure, transmission, hydraulics, hitch, axle, electronics, operator station.
