In the aircraft technology, three different categories of the objects can be considered in terms of their durability. When the durability depends on the wotking time of object components and units, the number of the spare parts depends on their working rate. When the durability ageing of object units and components, the number of the spare parts is limited by the calendar time of use. When, finally, the durability is dependent on the random failures, the predicted number of spare parts may be characterized by a large variance. The experimental, the Weibull and the wear models were presented in detail. In a real situation, the durability depends on several factors at the same time. Hence, the durability can be described as a function of random variables, where arguments are time of wear, time of ageing and time to failure, respectively. Simple durability models (including the linear model) were considered to illustrate the method.
