A design for the starter/generator of a hybrid-vehicle drive consisting of a piston or gas-turbine engine, an electrical machine, and an energy store is developed. Based on structural diagrams, its operation in various conditions is analyzed. Recommendations regarding the design of the automatic control system are given. An appropriate method of electrical-machine design for hybrid vehicles is described. Comparison with computer simulation indicates that this method is correct. Analysis of asynchronous machines for hybrid drives shows that it is expedient to use a multipole machine with a two-layer undulatory rod-type winding, whose size and performance meet light-vehicle requirements.
