To improve the efficiency of brakes in goods wagons, new lever drives of the brake changers (type 265A-1) were installed on the wagon chassis (to control the pressure in the brake operating cylinders and the vibration damper travel up to 90 mm), unified three-way steel pipes with a cut-off valves were designed (produced by electric hydroforming) and used in the air conduit of the freight car, screw joints of the brake pipes were replaced by the screwless ones in the air system, and a separate braking of individual chassis (type 18-579) installed in all types of freight cars (tank cars, hopper wagons, coal cars lorries) was checked and recommended. The chassis braking system was developed in cooperation with German Knorr-Bremse company.
