The urgent reform of the German social order has to aim at the recovery of a durable and intensive economic growth. The focal points cover mainly the problems of public health, old-age pension scheme, labour market, and tax reduction. The vital role of the transportation system is usually neglected. But in fact, these sectors of public and governmental activity are a prerequisite for adequate production power as a basis of sustainable development. This article attempts to trace out a system of transportation policy including infrastructure adjustment that meets - as a part of a functioning market economy - the requirements of sustainable economic growth.
