An electric double-layer capacitor has been developed as an energy storage device for a fuel cell vehicle. This configuration has enabled the achievement of a charging rate of 86% in the electrode and a connection resistance of less than 0.05 mOhms. Due to this packaging the unit and developments of the electrode and the electrolyte display the world's highest level of performance for a capacitor cell, with a specific power density of more than 1400 W/kg and a specific energy density of 3.9 Wh/kg. The new module system is equipped with a capacitor cell protection system and cooling systems.
