An obstacle detection and warning system for civil helicopters is being developed. An infrared camera, a color camera and a 94GHz FMCW radar are employed for its sensors. Stability and accuracy of the 94GHz radar output are measured in the anechoic chamber and on the field. A radar antenna consisting of a slot array and a Fresnel reflector is fabricated. Measured results show that the 94GHz radar has a very good stability and accuracy in the range. The reflector antenna has a satisfactory gain and radiation pattern.
