To the x-by-wire systems belong the throttle-by-wire, the brake-by-wire, the steer-by-wide and the clutch-by-wire systems. All these systems require position sensors. New inductive sensors were developed for measuring linear and angular positions. The output signal of the ratiometric sensor is independent of air gap variations, axial eccentricity or tilt, etc. The sensor is immune to electrical and electromagnetic disturbances. No temperature compensation is required. No magnetic materials, iron core or ferrites are used. The resolution is 12 bit. The sensor works contact-less, is made by printed circuit board technology and has a long-term stabilty.
