Natural scale models of ship hull girders were made for St41 type steel to study repair of the fatigue cracks. The repairs were carried out by overwelding the cracks with various electrodes and the models tested by loading for crack resistance. Use of a construction electrode (EB 150) did not result in a satisfactory strength of the regeneration (reproduction grade 12 % to 60 %) while the electrodes with an increased ductility (SAFER MF 48) gave acceptable results (reproduction grade 52 % to 81 %).
