This case study was carried out to investigate the presence of temperature anomalies that may indicate the existence of a change of the condition of a railway tunnel concrete lining. An infra-red survey was undertaken from the track level, investigating a number of ring sections within the tunnel. The known areas of water seepage were found. A number of other temperature anomalies where found. These findings are shown on the figures. The anomalies were identified by the infra-red thermographic survey despite (a) the worst possible ambient temperature conditions and (b) the infra-red camera could not be positioned far enough away to survey more than one ring at the same time.
