The introduction of Project 7000 stainless series is the most recent major advance in the evolution of stainless steels with improved machinability. This article describes Project 7000 15Cr-5Ni stainless (UNS S15500), an alloy developed in response to a specific need for enhanced machinability in aerospace and other industries.
