A type of Maglev system with permanent magnet motion control is proposed, analyzed and examined experimentally. In this Maglev system, the levitating object hangs on the upper iron rail and such parts as magnets, sensors and actuators are installed on the object. This levitation method is very useful for noncontact conveyance systems, because the conveyance path is very easy to make. This paper describes the success of the construction of this hanging-type magnetic levitation system using magnet motion control.
