An advanced diagnostic system particularly suited for electric vehicles is described in this paper. Data acquisition functions, real-time monitoring, data transmission and geographical localization are implemented on an industrial computer, supported by a set of custom boards for implementation of filtering and protection functions. The Java language software realized for the application is presented and described. A prototype for the application has been realized and full testing results are shown, demonstrating the full compliance with target goals and suitability for an on-field application.
