Compagnie du chemin de fer du bas-congo au katanga (Bck) is the largest rail road company in the congo and is headquartered at lubumbashi, the central city of the province of katanga. Various railroad vehicles have been supplied to bck by a japanese consortium. Among them, there are a number of diesel electric locomotives, which are discussed in this paper with reference to their special features and the outlines of the body, bogie, rotating machines, and control devices. the locomotives supplied are of the standard type for use in tropical areas, but were designed with special regard to local conditions.
