The goal of the Air Force Automated Assembly Thrust is to achieve the intelligent assembly of aircraft components. Part of this thrust is the Flexible Assembly Subsystems (FAS) program. Current FAS cell layout, some of the subsystems and tools associated with automated assembly and riveting processes are described and discussed in detail.
