This paper discusses a characterization system that has been developed to test robot accuracy and repeatability in continuous-path motion. The system can indicate accuracy and repeatability of a robot trajectory at various speeds and loads within 0.001 inch; can indicate the ability to maintain tool orientation; and can be used with any type of manipulator arm with a separate coordinated parts positioner.
