The integration and implementation of a multi-robot process line for the demilitarization of obsolete chemical munitions is described. Emphasis is on hardware and software approaches to achieving autonomous operation. Process line operations are controlled and coordinated by a minicomputer which integrates information from sensors to facilitate autonomous operation in normal and process upset conditions. A special feature is the use of sophisticated computer graphics for system development, testing, and training. Integration of various robot systems, graphics (touch screen, speech), sensors (visual, tactile, and range finding), conveyors, and other equipment with supervisory minicomputer and protocols developed is described.
