The use of alternative fuels in marine diesel engines requires changes in the common design of diesel engine. In the present paper an idea for the control of the problem of wear in the cylinder-piston complex is offered as a matter of discussion. It could be a new step towards adjustment of the diesel engine to extreme fuel qualities that initiates an intensive reasoning about further constructive changes.
