A tractor/trailer combination vehicle is a complex nonlinear structural system exposed in normal road use to a wide range of operating environments. A method of analyzing the dynamic structural behavior of this system using simulated road surfaces as excitation is presented. Techniques for handling the nonlinarities and relating dynamic structural response (deflections and stresses) to road surface inputs are presented. (Wassmann)
