The vessel considered is a 290,894 tons displacement oil tankship with single screw geared steam turbine drive. The analysis consists of superimposing dynamic, still water and quasi-steady wave induced hull deflections to determine boundary conditions for a static finite element model of the double bottom and propulsion machinery system. The reactions of the stern tube, steady and bull gear bearings are then determined for various loading and environmental conditions for each of three hull girder stiffness variations from 60 % to 140 % . of the as built stiffness. The results indicate significant bearing load differences with hull girder stiffness variation.(Wassmann)
