Measurements of internal waves in the upper 150 m of the Eastern Tropical Pacific were made with an absolutely-calibrated twoed thermistor chain. Vertical displacement spectrum estimates, ensemble averaged over several tow directions throughout the horizontal wavenumber band from 1 to 15 cpkm, are consistent with other recent measurements. However, towed vertical coherence estimates over depth separations from 2 to 96 m are substantially higher than those obtained in recent measurements. The vertical coherence length appears to depend principally on horizontal wavenumber, not on buoyancy frequency. (DePo)
