The heat transfer coefficient of the car's body is one of the parameters controlling the heat balance inside the passenger compartment under steady state and transient conditions. Applying the analogy to the heat exchanger, the heat transfer coefficient of a car can be measured with no regard to the inhomogeneity of the heat transferring surface. A formula connecting the heat transfer coefficient with driving speed and ventilation air flow is derived from experiments, which holds for the three classes of cars considered. (Wassmann)
