For the Infrared Space Observatory project, an electric motor has been studied and tested. This steeper motor, derived from a space qualified component, is able to run under vacuum at liquid helium temperatures. Moreover, its superconducting winding allows it to run with an electrical heat dissipation less than 1 mW. This motor has been submitted to a complete test programme including endurance testing at cryogenic temperatures ( less than 10 K) and vibration testing at liquid nitrogen temperature. The motor torque has been measured down to 8 K.
