Electric cars were developed for city use due to their compact and lightweight construction, leading to economical handling ease. Two identical cars are operated as a unit. Each car is equipped with a current-collecting trolley pole, traction motor controller and motor-generator. Toshiba and The Kinki Sharyo Co. Ltd. have supplied these cars to the Alexandria Passenger Transport Authority, Alexandria, Egypt since 1982.
