Metro cars manufactured by Toshiba contribute to modernization and relieve traffic jams in urban areas of Cairo and Alexandria. Both surface metro systems utilize a system consisting of 600 V DC overhead lines and tracks. There are some differences in train formation, track gauge, average distance between stations and other operating conditions between the two cities.
