All the auxiliaries associated with TGV high speed trains are supplied from two static converters of 2*445 kVA, each of which serves half a train under normal operating conditions. The role, features and performance of this equipment which has double or treble-voltage rating like traction equipment are described. The static converters, which are essential components affecting the availability of trains, have successfully passed endurance tests.
