Low light level TV (LLLTV) is described; it uses fibre optics and light amplifier tubes to produce an image which is electronically scanned by the TV camera tube. Infrared systems use heat waves (thermal photons) to produce an image. They include pyroelectric TV systems with lenses transparent to infrared radiation and a triglycine sulphate target. The Thermovision system employs an infrared detector cell, which scans the object.
