We proposed a nwe hybrid FE-BE method which can deal with a straight semi-infinite two-media boundary without making infinite element subdivitions, applying the image method. Utilizing this method we derived the performance characteristics of short-secondary SLIM subject to the verocity normal to the track. The results show that the end effect of short-secondary SLIM is unlikely for the normal force at small slip, while it contributes to the increase of the tractive force in the region of slip S=1.
