As drive for linear motions the linear induction motor is used in multipurpose application. 1-5, 7, 11 By that, the single-sided LIM(SLIM) construction is, compared with the double-sided method of design, of constructional advantage, therefore, the SLIM is subject of this paper, representing an extension of reference 5. In addition to the consideration of the actual winding districution (longitudinal and transverse end effect, air gap harmonics), the three-dimensional field analysis and the variable permeability of the solid secondary-iron, the finite length of the primary-iron and various kinds of secondaries are included: solid iron, conductive sheet with solid or laminated magnetic return path. Fig. 1 and 2 show the mathematical model on which to analysis is based. Further assumptions are: 1. taking into account the winding by means of the m.m.f. districution on the primary-surface, 2. taking into account finite length and width of the winding by means of double series, 3. infinite primary-iron in the transverse direction (z-direction) and the y-direction, 4. saturation and hysteretic loss of the laminations are neglected, 5. calculations were done with an effective permeability my r,E in the solid secondarif y-iron, 6. current density component Jy=0; in end region Jy i necessary, seized by means of a fictitions overhang, thus as Jz. With respect to a frequency converter feeding a symmetric current system is originated, eq. (1).
