This paper addresses the problem of contact tracking solution analysis for underwater system applications. The problem considered consists of selecting the best solution or integrating from a number of available estimates to form an 'optimal' solution. These may be derived from several estimation algorithms that reflect varying degrees of sophistication or are based on different modelling assumptions. Consequently, solutions which are conflicting or of varying quality may result. A technique based on likelihood-ratio hypothesis testing is applied to reject biased solutions, combining those which are statistically consistent. Simulation results demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed technique are presented.
