To improve performance, reliability and cost effective operation solid state electronics are becoming more and more abundant in today's autos. In this paper we will examine Synertek's new Z86C01 CMOS Microcomputer in some typical automotive functions. First we will examine the general architecture of the Z8. We will then look at some typical automotive electronic monitoring and control function.
