This very basic outline shows quite clearly that the IU program can be very germane to the needs of the various phases of reconnaissance. Research in both basic techniques and algorithm development, as well as efforts in specific applications will allow this very promising program to have significant benefit to the reconnaissance task. Papers presented at this SPIE Symposium will take additional significant steps toward that end.
