Many claims have been made for the successful application of MIG welding to underwater welding. One company which has developed equipment to meet these requirements is F Hirschmann Ltd of Fourth Way, Exhibition Grounds, Wembley, Middx. The Hirschmann welding equipment, which has been available for some time but which has not been widely used, has an independent setting of voltage and short circuit current. This produces a more or less rectangular but definitely convex static characteristic.
