Abstract With the generous use of trucks, fuel consumption and security risks increase. In this paper, we developed an Omni-directional steering electric truck model to improve the driving safety and reduce fuel consumption. The electric truck model is driven by four in-wheel motors which run independently. Then the dynamic model of the traditional truck is analyzed. Combining road environment information and the truck driving condition, the adaptive cruise control (ACC) system controls the truck drives at a safe speed. Using the ACC technology in electric trucks results in the improvement of energy efficiency and safety of trucks at the same time.
