Abstract The article presents the characteristics of the specifications enabling the use of a dual-system tram in the Upper Silesian Agglomeration. Technical and socio-economic specifications have been taken into account. The dual-system tram is a system of public passenger transport connecting the subsystems of rail transport: train and tram. The most widespread model is the “Karlsruhe Model”, i.e. the model in which the vehicle is adapted to moving on the tram tracks and railway tracks.
