By analyzing the characteristics of a battery discharge, a new power balance automatic control strategy at idle condition was designed. The feedback signal of electric power load is cancelled and the battery state is estimated only by voltage. Furthermore, application problems, such as integration with the normal engine control logic, etc. were studied. By integrating into ECU, the idle power balance automatic control function can be realized without adding any hardware cost. Vehicle test results show that the control logic can modify idle speed automatically and stably according to electrical load power.
