Abstract The share of individual motorization in everyday commuting still increases. This situation is dictated by the fact that alternative ways of urban transportation are still not competitive, especially due to the time and convenience of moving in a “door-to-door” relation. Railways are the fastest means of agglomeration transport; however, very often the time benefits achieved during the travel are lost at interchange points. Thus, one of the key factors is railway stations and stops, which very often are a barrier to pedestrian traffic and do not fully utilize their integration potential in the passenger transport system. The aim of the chapter is to present a new Railways Stations Strategy with a new categorization of railway stations managed by Polish State Railways (PKP SA) and to show the contribution of this strategy to creating the competitiveness of alternative solutions in urban transport in relation to individual motorization.
