The objectives of the commissioning, operation, and maintenance of the cathodic protection system are: (1) The cathodic protection system functions continuously in accordance with the requirements of the design and installation; and (2) The ship’s hull, internal surface (ballast tanks), and appendages remain satisfactorily protected from corrosion over the life of the system. The cathodic protection potential measurements should be conducted by the qualified cathodic protection personnel as stipulated in Chap. 1, Sect. 3.
